2012 Green Initiatives
The companies of Phillips Office Solutions continue to expand our green and recycling programs. See a graphic report of our 2012 Green Initiatives. Our current “Green” activities included:
Reduced Electricity Usage Annually
The Phillips Group 60,000 square foot corporate office and warehouse was retrofitted with energy efficient lighting that drastically reduced our electric consumption. In addition, it improved the overall lighting quality for all team members.
Elimination of 175 Tons of CO2 Annually
The lighting retrofit also provided the additional benefit of preventing huge amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) from entering the atmosphere.
Added Motion Sensors On All Warehouse Lights
All warehouse lights were retrofitted with motion sensors to further reduce the daily electric consumer in areas that are not regularly accessed. This cuts our electric use by a further 10% annually.
Cardboard Recycling
All companies of the Phillips Group recycle tons of cardboard packaging annually.
Shipping Box Recycling
We collect our delivery boxes from customers so that they can be reused.
Recycling of Scrap Metal and Plastic
When a copier reached its end of life; the remaining plastic, metal, and wiring is sent to a recycling company.
Toner Cartridge Recycling
The Phillips Group collects and recycles all brands of empty toner cartridges.
Recycling of Catalogs/Paper
This includes old catalogs (including competitors) and old records.
Plastic/Glass/Aluminum Recycling
The Phillips Group collects and recycles plastic, glass bottles, and aluminum cans from our lunchroom.
Recycling of Wood Pallets
During the year, the Phillips Group collects and recycles wood pallets from our Receiving operation.
In the non-traditional recycling area…
Recycling Copiers
Used copiers are sent to wholesalers who in turn redeploy them to the marketplace as full machines or as part replacements.
